Black Fantails

 Ms Green and I were chatting about all the interesting

Awesome New Zealand Creatures in our Backyard.

When she told me she had seen a black fantail/piwakawaka

when tramping in the South Island of New Zealand.

And here are her pictures.

I also found out the fantail is known by lots of different names:

tiwaiwaka, piwaiwaka, tirairaka, pirairaka, pitakataka...
