After our study of insects last term, we got to thinking about how we could encourage insects into our school gardens.
First, we went on an insect hunt, but prior to that we had a brainstorm about all the insects that we knew, both good and bad insects and then off we went...
...To our surprise we found only a few insects:
slater - (spotted twice)
two small spiders
an ant
two ladybirds
two flies
two large blowflies - one in a drain and the other in a plastic bag
and numerous spider webs in trees.
We found two types of spiders, nursery spiders and orb spiders. To help us with our research we used this book.
