This has been our Shared Big Book during
Samoan Language Week.
This story, set on a Pacific island, tells of a hen's search for
a safe place to hatch her chicks.
This week in Room 1, that Pacific island has been Samoa.
We have been learning the Samoan words for:
Chicken - taumoa
Pig - puaa
Children - tamaiti
Bush - rao
Coconut tree - la'au pulu
Biscuit tin - keke keke
House - fale
Canoe - va'a
On Friday we made our own island and acted out the story.

| We did talk about the reef, and how "Nemo" wasn't allowed to go to the "drop off" but somehow the large shark got into the lagoon. |
