End of Term Disco

Enjoy the holidays Room 15 and don't forget to
READ!  READ!   READ!

Bumble Bees

The last insect we learnt about was Bumble Bees.

Here is the book we read.

Bumble Bees are very interesting, here is some of the information that we found out about them.

Look at all these Bumble Bees in the blue flowers!

Our poem this week was about Bumble Bees.

Here we are reading our Poetry Folders.

Here is our Minibeast display.

Geometry

In maths this week we are learning about Geometry - shapes.

We are learning to sort shapes into the same shape group.
We are learning how many sides and corners each shape has.

Here are some of the activities we can do with shapes.

Look At Me

The Joy Cowley reading group read the book,

"Look at Me"

After we finished reading, Paeton, Mona and Bentley build a castle with the blocks.

During Maori Language Week, we continued to practice asking each other,

"How are you feeling?"

"Kei te pehau koe?"

Room 15 is actually getting quite good at asking and answering this question.  If you see us in the playground, try us out and ask us at home.

Our book of the week was, "He aha tenei?"  "What is this?"
It was a great choice as it had lots of insects to look at and we began learning their names in Maori.
It also, had a CD for us to listen to.

Spiders

The second insect we investigated were SPIDERS!

This was our shared book.

Here's what we found out about SPIDERS!

We then made spiders, we choose to make a house spider, or a white tail or a red back.
Here's what they look like.

Toast, Toast, Toast!

Rooms 2, 3 and 15 have been busy again during
Discovery Learning.

We are learning to butter and spread our toast on Thursday mornings.

After we wash our hands,
we spread the margarine and then we choose either,
jam, honey or marmite to have on our toast.

Yummy Thursday Mornings!

Stick Insects

The first Minibeast that we researched was the,
Stick Insect.

First, we read this book together and found out lots of information.

Then, we wrote about what we found out.

Next, we made stick insects out of sticks we found around the garden and pipe cleaners.
Stick Insects are very good at camouflaging, can you spot them.

We have been learning about Minibeasts, (insects).

We have been classifying (sorting) those insects that have:
lots of legs, 8 legs, 6 legs and no legs.

Here we are looking at pictures of insects, we are counting the legs they have.

We have sorted the pictures into groups.
