Welcome to Room 1 Zoo

Room 1, along with ALL the Rimu Team have been
busy, busy. busy.

We were given a problem to solve for
Technology.

Problem:
There is lots of construction at the Zoo
and we need to plan and design
new enclosures for the animals?

We had to think about ...
*Which animal we would choose.
*What habitat they belonged to.
*What food they would need.
*What kind of shelter they might need.
*What enrichment activities (toys) they might have.

Then we spent many afternoons;
thinking, painting, planning, thinking some more, talking, making,
lots of thinking, looking on the internet, and more thinking and talking.

Here are our adults looking at what we have done before school.

Next, we had visitors from other classes come and look, asked questions and gave us feedback.

At the Animal Farm

Room 2 & 3's Zoo Enclosures

Last Friday we were lucky enough to be invited to view
Room 2 & 3 and look at their Zoo Enclosures.

Haven't they done a great job.

It was Lilly's last day at Owai.

You will be missed Lilly.

Tongan Language Week

Room 1 had two Tongan Language specialists visit
to teach us a Tongan Hello song.

Thank you Phoenix, lovely voices.
Mālō ē lelei x 2  - (Hello)

Fēfē hake? x  - (How are you?)
‘Oku ou sai pe x 2  - (I am fine)
Mālō ē lava mai x 2 - (Thank you for being here)

This is sung to, "Frere Jacques".

New signs at Owai!

This morning as we were walking to the field for a run, we saw a new sign.

It is all about keeping us safe.

What Am I?

We have been doing some descriptive writing about the animals we saw at the zoo.

How good do you think our clues are?
