Book Week

The Rimu Team
is going to have a focus on the books by:

Dr Seuss.

Theodor Seuss Geisel; March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991) was an American author political cartoonist, poet, animator, book publisher, and artist, best known for authoring children's books under the pen name Dr. Seuss. His work includes several of the most popular children's books of all time, selling over 600 million copies and being translated into more than 20 languages by the time of his death.  (Wikipedia)

During Book Week, the teachers will be reading Dr Seuss books daily.
There will be a Book Quiz each day for the children to enter.
Those that get the correct answer will also go into the draw during
Book Week Assembly on Friday.

There are other great activities happening during book week -
check your child's book bag for further information.

On Friday, your child can come dressed up as any character from any of Dr Seuss's books.

If you would like to find more about Dr Seuss go to:

What Am I?

We have been doing some descriptive writing about the animals we saw at Ambury Farm.

We have written some clues as to what animal we are thinking about.

See if you can guess.

Maths Week

It has been Maths Week

The Rimu Team has been solving a maths problem everyday.

It's been very exciting.

Problem 2:  Jack has 6 balloons.  3 are green and the rest are blue.
Question:  How many balloons are blue?

Problem 3:  You have to share 8 lollies equally with your friend.
Question:  How many will each of you get?

Problem  4:  Sam gets 2 stickers from his mum, 2 stickers from his dad and 2 stickers from his teacher.
Question:  How many stickers did he get altogether?

Holiday Reading Log - 1st Place

Wow!
Room 1 is amazing,
everyone in Room 1 read during the holidays,
we received a certificate and 3 books.

Well done!

Room 22 and Room 1's Assembly

On Friday we took Assembly with our Buddy Class - Room 22.

Here are some highlights.

Here we are patiently waiting for the school to come into the hall quietly.

We sang "Old Mac Donald Had A Farm"
with just the musical backing tape.

Kato, Dayelle, Jasmine, Tulsi and Alice read their Ambury Farm stories.
See previous post:  Writing about Ambury Farm.

Hajir and Deacon helped present how Room 1 is Organised.
See previous post - School Focus:  Be Organised.

Animal Masks

Our visit to Ambury Farm inspired our Assembly item,
so we decided to sing "Old MacDonald had a Farm",
but first we made some farm animal masks.

They were made out of paper plates, we choose the farm animal,
and what it would look like, then we painted the plates, ears, mouth etc.
Our teacher put them together.

And here they are...
