The Safe Place

This is our shared book this week.
We have started our stories with,
Once upon a time ...

Maths - Measurement - non standard units

This week we have been measuring things with,
cubes, paperclips, rods, and dice.

Actually, you can measure with anything as long as it is the same size.
You need to start measuring at the beginning and stop at the end.
And you need to make sure that there are no gaps.

When you measure like this, we call the things we measure with -
non-standard units.

Here we are practicing this with numeracy cubes.

Now we are practising with paper clips and dice.

We can even measure with our feet!

Tusi and the Toytown Garage

Tusi has been reading about the Toytown vehicles.

He has built a Toytown Garage with all the vehicles.

Can you see them?

Calendar Art

Check out our Calendar Art...

Room 1 has kept with the farm animal theme.
We talked about the horizon line and have put a barn in the distance on the horizon.
We have also used different textures for the grass and the sky.  When we were at Ambury Farm we found out that hens and chickens come in different colours; so we have choosen our favourite hen colour.

Orders for these should be available soon.

Maths - Measurement - putting things in order

We are learning about measurement for the next couple of weeks.

Here we are using the words:
tall, taller, and tallest.

We have also been sorting cards into big, bigger and biggest or
biggest, bigger, big.

After that we looked for objects that we could put in order of;
tall, taller, tallest
long, longer, longest.
