Room 15's Garden

We are very lucky,
Sam and Ben, Year 10 students from Kristin College are
building us a garden as part of their studies.

This is where our garden is going to be built.
Near the butterfly garden and next to the chickens.
Sam and Ben are showing us the vegetables that we are going to plant.

Persaies and Yasser pinning up the names of the vegetables.

Sam and Ben read us some stories about gardening.

This Saturday Sam and Ben are going to built the garden.  If you are around, pop in and see how they are going. They will be starting around 11 o'clock.

Next week, we are going to paint the outside of the garden box.

Green Day

Doesn't Room 15 look very GREEN!

On Green Day, Room 15 discussed our school
 Care Code.

At Owairaka our students will be environmentally active.

A goal for our students is to be conscious and active within the school, community and beyond in order to make a positive impact on the environment.

We thought about the things that we could do to make our school a better place...

... and this is what we said ...

Giselle and Kai were two children from Room 15 that walked to school,
they received a little surprise at GREEN DAY ASSEMBLY.

Charity received the GREEN DAY certificate to being extra good at
putting our rubbish into the correct bins.

On GREEN DAY these children bought lunches that were
wrapper free.

We also planted some bulbs into our plant boxes on the deck and in our new pot.

We hope they come up ...

...  keep watching to find out what type of bulbs
we planted.

Buddy Class

We went to visit our Buddy Class today.
It is Room 16, which we thought was quite funny because we are Room 15.
They live all the way over by the senior playground, near the swimming pool
and in front of "our" tree.

We are going to do some "fun" things with them,
but first they are going to hear us read each week on,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, after lunch.

for hearing us read.

Autumn

This term we have been learning about the changes that happen in Autumn.

We went for a walk to the tree over by the senior playground.

We found out that ...

Here we are under the tree, it is starting to loose its leaves.
Have a look at our previous blog on Summer and compare the trees
and the clothes we are wearing.

We talked about the changes in the weather,
this is what we think the weather is like in Autumn.

We shared our ideas about the clothes we are wearing in Autumn.

Then we wrote about what clothes we were wearing to keep us warm during Autumn.

In the mornings, before the 2nd bell, we have been doing some leaf rubbings with
Autumn colours; yellow, orange, brown and red.
They look awesome on our class tree.

While Eddie our caretaker was away, we took the opportunity to enjoy the leaves.

Autumn Walk

This morning room 15 went for an Autumn walk.  We jumped in the leaves.  It was fun.  Anjola

Today Room 15 went into the leaves.  They made a scrunching sounds.
