Tree Climbing at Owai!

Room 1 had already spied out these trees in our playground,

but were just waiting for the green light to start climbing.

Climbing Trees 

have a green circle on the trunk and red ropes around the branches.

We are allowed to climb up to the red rope.

Room 1 was extremely good at showing Manaakitangi,

they realised very quickly that not everyone would be able to climb at once.  

So they got themselves into an orderly lined and took turns at climbing.

Tyson & his Life Jacket

Tyson told us all about his Life Jacket.

Tyson told us about the whistle, the reflectors and the colours red and yellow.

Room 1 asked some very good questions.  

They wanted to know more about when Tyson would blow the whistle?

Why the reflectors were important?

Why the life jacket was yellow and red?

Arnie & Professor Poopypants

Last Term we started having 2 children each day bring along 

something to share with the class.  It had to be something that they were 

really interested in and could talk about.

Well, this week we have been especially lucky.

Arnie shared his book that he bought with his birthday money.

We had quite a bit of fun with this.  

It turns out that Professor Poopypants has a Name Change O Chart,

so we changed our names - they were really funny.

End of Term Disco

On Friday the Rimu Team is going to the hall for the Disco.  Huw

On Friday Rimu Team is going to have a disco.  It is going to be themed rainbow and sun.  My brother is going to be a sun.  I'm going to be in rainbow colours.  I think that the hall is going to have tinsel like red and yellow and blue and green and pink and purple and orange.  Lyla.

Pete's tractor

It's been quite exciting here at Owai.

Pete has a new tractor, we see Pete and Tatum driving very slowly around Owai.

A visit from baby Nina

If you're early in the morning to school, 

sometimes baby Nina comes for a visit with mum and Jack.

3D Shapes

We have been sorting our groceries into 3D shapes.

Hexagons

With the help of Miss Graham,

we made hexagon caterpillars.

What do you call a group of caterpillars?

We can tell what a hexagon looks like because ....

"They have six sides", said Sibley.

"They look like a octagon, but they are not, because they don't have 8 sides,"

said Kingi.

"They have six corners," said Sophia.

"It looks like a bee hive," said Huw.

We have been learning about 2D shapes.

Here we have used these shapes to make pictures.

This is my rocket.  The blue circle is earth.  The triangle is the top. The yellow circle is the moon.  Nobody is in the rocket and it is going to the moon. It has squares, triangles and rectangles.  Arnie.
