Matariki with our Buddy Class - Room 22

We had a great morning on Tuesday.

Together with our Buddy Class - Room 22,
we read "Matariki Breakfast" and did some acting of
"The Seven Fishes".

Then with a Buddy from Room 22,
we started the feathers for our
korowai - cloak.

We have used different textures to form the
feathers of the korowai.

A sneak preview!

After that we had toast and jam,
while we waited for the rewena bread to cook.

Eating our toast under the pohutukawa tree outside Room 10.

Just before lunch,
we met up again with Room 22 to eat the rewena bread.

It was a success!

We could tell,
as there was no bread left over,
only crumbs.

If you want to try our recipe go to the link below.

Play Based Learning

Painting is always a popular option.
Here the children are using water paints.

Over the past few weeks, we have been using stickers to make cards, posters, books
for our family and friends.

Construction an important skill,
also incorporating sharing and caring.

Tyson and Oscar have been using these numeracy cubes for a couple of weeks now,
but this week it has taken on new dimensions and Kingi and Millie have joined in.

The Duffy Show

Wow!

What a week, and a great ending with

The Duffy Show.

A few "pics" from the show.

Here's what we thought...

Millie thought the show was cool, because she likes Halloween.

I liked the teacher with the pink hair, because she was funny.  Sophia

I liked the book, "The Halloween Bully", especially the skeleton.  Omar

I liked the end of the book. because they were doing the Floss.  McKenzye

I liked the part where the skeleton took the chocolate bar at the beginning.  Manny

During the night, I liked the dog and the skeleton.  Jack

The Farm in the Spring

The Jenny Hessell Reading Group read the book,
"The Farm in Spring".

Jack, Eleanor, Lyla and Sophia
were showing the first two Owairaka School values.

They were practicing sharing and caring - Manaakitanga,  and
Manawanuitanga, oral language by discussing their ideas with each other;
by creating their own farm with different groups of animals.
