Matariki

It's been an exciting week with Matariki - The Maori New Year.

Room 1 has been reading,
"Matariki Breakfast" with Leonie.

We found out that Matariki is a special time for us to share
traditional stories
and food,
to plant vegetables.

Room 1 has been doing just that.
We have read lots of different stories about
the 7 stars.

Together with Room 6, we have planted Sugar Snap Peas,
up by the Butterfly garden, near the strawberry patch.

Seneti and Emma working on our sign for the garden.

And we received an invitation from our buddy class Room 18,
to join them for breakfast on Monday.

Wow, we have a busy calendar!

  1. Fresh peas from the garden are delicious! It looks like you are all taking care with the plants - Kaitiakitanga in action. Ka pai Room 1!
